There is only one race packet for each relay team.  All the bibs for that relay team are in the one race packet.  The first person from the team who picks up the kit is responsible for meeting up with the other team member(s) to pass along the relay bib(s) either before the race or early on race morning.  So please communicate with your team about who is going to packet pick up.

Relay Exchange Details

Please read carefully:

Relay Instructions
Each team will be provided with one chipped wristband. The wristband must be worn by each team member while completing their portion of the run, and must be passed on to the next runner at the relay stations. The wristband must be worn on the wrist to ensure best timing detection. Wearing it somewhere other than on your wrist may result in missed timing detections.

All relay runners must wait behind the barricaded waiting area until their relay member arrives for the chip exchange. Please keep off the road, until you must go out to do your exchange. REMAIN ORDERLY AND DO NOT CROWD THE ROAD!

Baggage and Clothes

The Bay Race is NOT RESPONSIBLE for any items left on the buses by relay runners.

All relay team members are responsible for their own property. Please make arrangements between your team members on the safe keeping and removal of items from the buses.

Water, Food and Medals

Relay members MUST get their food at the points where they finish. ONLY THE LAST MEMBER will get food at FIRSTONTARIO CENTRE and pickup the medals for the team.

Course Time Limits

The course time limit for the in-person 30K is 4.5 hours from the start of the horn at 9:30am. Participants must reach the 15K point by 11:45am and the 20K (really 19.5K) relay exchange point by 12:30pm to continue. This applies to relays as well so please ensure the first leg of the relay is aware of the course time limit as it may impact the participation of the other leg(s).

At the discretion of the POLICE, due to traffic control and runner safety, participants may be asked to walk along the sidewalks and obey traffic rules.

All participants not reaching the 15K point by 11:45am or the 20K (really 19.5K) relay exchange point by 12:30pm will be directed to the buses for a ride back to FirstOntario Centre.

Virtual Relays

Each member of the relay team runs their leg either on their own or safely with their teammate(s) and does not have to be on a specific course or location as long as the distance for the leg is achieved. Each team member’s individual time is added together for the relay time.

The team captain will submit each team member’s time in Race Roster.  Only the team captain will receive the unique link to submit results. Details on submitting virtual results coming shortly.

To make edits to the team including replacing a team member, please email info@bayrace.com.

No transfer fees for changing members on a relay team.

Virtual Relay medals will be customized with:
