Race Overview:

The Around the Bay Road Race is the oldest road race in North America, older than the Boston Marathon. It was first run in 1894 and is one of Canada’s premier running events steeped in history and tradition. The race has grown over the years to include a 5K, 2x15K relay and a 3x10K relay to complement its signature event, the 30K.

The 30K (18.6 miles) is a unique distance as it is more than a half marathon but less than a full marathon, making the Around the Bay Road Race a perfect event to keep winter training on track and prepare runners for future races of all distances.

Funds Raised Through the 2025 Bay Race are Fueling the Future of Care at St. Joe’s

Racing Towards Robotic Surgery Innovation. This year, funds raised will support St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton’s internationally-renowned robotic surgery program. Robotic surgery is helping patients heal faster and go home sooner. But robotic surgery is so new that seven of the 10 types of robotic surgery performed at St. Joe’s, including hip and knee replacements and surgeries for cancers of the head, neck, lung, bladder and more, remain unfunded by the province. Pledges made to Bay Race runners will help to ensure every patient who may benefit from robotic surgery can have access to it at St. Joe’s. Learn more at www.stjoesfoundation.ca/robotics.

St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation has been a charity partner since 2005. In that time, St. Joe’s has raised over $5 million to support patient care and research at the Hospital.
